So schreiben Sie die Geschäftsleitung richtig an

How to send an invitation to a CEO

The CEO, or Chief Executive Officer , is the highest-ranking officer of a company. He or she is often also the chairman of the board, and sometimes  the  president. The CEO oversees the company’s  finances and strategic planning, which makes him or her a very important person! So if you are inviting a CEO to a meeting or a company function, it is important to get the address right. Fortunately, this is not difficult.

How to write the address

When you write the address on your company letterhead or on an envelope, always include the position of the person you are writing to in the second line. This is how you do it in American and British English.

American English

Name
Position
Company
Post box / or house number and street + any additions like apartment
City, State (abbreviated) and Zip Code.
USA

Mr David Brewer
CEO
Maxwell Corporation
2996 Sheridan Rd
Evanston, IL 60208
USA

British English

Name
Position
Company
P.O. Box or number and street
City or town
Postcode
UK

Mr Sam Ackerman
CEO
Matthew Swain plc
P.O. Box 128
Manchester

How to write the salutation

In German, particularly in Austrian German, you often use the position in the salutation of a letter . For example you might write: „Sehr geehrter Herr Direktor Ackerman“. You do not do this in English.  Simply write: Dear Mr Ackerman
